Tonyelle Cook-Artis is an American leader in government from Pennsylvania. She works for a government organization in Philadelphia.

She used to be a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. She represented the 200th House district in Philadelphia. She served one term in 2016.

Early Life and Education

Tonyelle Cook-Artis was born on September 2, 1974. Her hometown is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Lankenau High School in 1997.

She went to Bennett College and earned a degree in political science. This means she studied how governments work. She graduated in 2001. Later, in 2013, she earned a master's degree. She studied political management at George Washington University.

Working in Government

Before she became a state representative, Tonyelle Cook-Artis worked for other leaders. She was a staff assistant for U.S. Congresswoman Alma Adams. She also helped people as a representative for Philadelphia City Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco. She was also the chief-of-staff for Pennsylvania Representative Cherelle Parker.

In March 2016, Cook-Artis won a special election. This election was held because Cherelle Parker left the House. Parker resigned to join the Philadelphia City Council. Tonyelle Cook-Artis took her place for the rest of the term.

Later that year, in April, Chris Rabb won the primary election. He ran against Cook-Artis for the next full term.

From 2017 to 2021, Cook-Artis worked for the Delaware River Port Authority. She was the manager of government relations. In November 2021, she was promoted. She became the acting director of government relations for the same organization.
