Exploring Torraño's Past and People
Torraño has a long history, and its population has changed quite a bit over the years. We can learn about these changes by looking at old records called censuses. A census is like a big count of all the people living in a place at a certain time.
Early Records of Torraño's Population
In 1789, a special count called the Census of Floridablanca showed that Torraño had 112 people living there. At that time, it was part of a different municipality called Ayllón.
Later, in 1842, another census was taken. This record showed that Torraño had 20 homes and 86 people. You can see that the number of people had already started to decrease.
Torraño's Modern Population Trends
Since 1972, Torraño has been part of the municipality of San Esteban de Gormaz. The population continued to change over the years.
- In 1981, a census counted 30 residents in Torraño.
- By 2010, the number of people living in the village had become much smaller, with only 13 residents. Out of these 13 people, 9 were males and 4 were females.
This shows how small villages can sometimes see their populations change a lot over time.
