Torre Espacial, also called Torre Interama, is a very tall observation tower in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It stands in the Villa Soldati area, inside the Parque de la Ciudad (City Park). The tower is about 200 meters (656 feet) high.
This amazing tower was designed and built in Austria by a company called Waagner-Biro. Its construction took place between 1980 and May 1981. The tower was planned to be part of the Parque de la Ciudad amusement park.
Building the Torre Espacial
The company that was developing the amusement park, Interama S.A., faced some money problems. This caused a delay in getting all the parts for the tower. Because of these delays, the Torre Espacial finally opened to the public on July 9, 1985.
What You Can See from the Tower
The Torre Espacial has several observation decks where visitors can look out. These decks are located at different heights: 120 meters, 124 meters, and 176 meters above the ground. From the very highest deck, on a clear day, you can even see the coast of Uruguay across the Río de la Plata!
A City Landmark
On November 22, 2010, the Torre Espacial was officially named a City Cultural Landmark. This means it is an important part of the city's history and culture. The tower was closed for a while in 2003. However, after some important repair and improvement work, it reopened its doors to visitors on November 26, 2011.
