History of Tortí
How Tortí Became a Corregimiento
Tortí was officially created as a corregimiento on July 29, 1998. This happened because of a special legal decision. An older law from 1982 was found to be against the country's constitution. Because of this, a new law, Law 58, was put in place to establish Tortí.
Population Growth
The number of people living in Tortí has grown over time. In the year 2000, the population was 8,030. By 2010, it had increased to 9,297 people. This shows that more people have moved to or been born in the area.
Geography and Location
Tortí is part of the Panamá Province, which is one of the ten provinces in Panama. It is situated in the eastern part of the province, within the Chepo District. Its location is important for understanding its role in the region.
