Tosagua is a city located in Ecuador, a country in South America. About 11,317 people live here. It is the main city of Tosagua Canton.
The city sits by the Carrizal River. This river is in the northwest part of the Manabí Province. The name "Tosagua" comes from an old local tribe called the Tosahuas.
Tosagua became a county on January 20, 1984. This happened after the Congress and the president of Ecuador, Osvaldo Hurtado Larrea, approved it. The city is home to important local government offices and organizations. Tosagua Canton covers an area of 381.6 square kilometers. It is a central point in the northern part of Manabí Province.
