Toshitsugu Takamatsu (高松 寿嗣, Takamatsu Toshitsugu, born March 10, 1889 – died April 2, 1972) was a Japanese martial arts master. He taught Masaaki Hatsumi, who later started the Bujinkan martial arts school. Some people called Takamatsu "The Last Shinobi," which means "The Last Ninja."

Who Was Toshitsugu Takamatsu?

Toshitsugu Takamatsu was born on March 10, 1889, in Akashi, Hyōgo, a city in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. He was also known by the nickname Mōko no Tora, which means "Mongolian Tiger."

When he was about 21 years old, Takamatsu traveled to China. During his time there, he taught martial arts to many people. He also took part in several serious fights.

Takamatsu was married to Uno Tane. They adopted a girl named Yoshiko. His father, Takamatsu Gishin Yasaburo, owned a factory that made matches. His father was also a master in a special kind of spiritual practice.

Takamatsu had his own training hall, called a dojo. He named his dojo "Sakushin," which means "Cultivating Spirit." His home was located near the Kashihara Shrine in Kashihara, Nara.

Takamatsu passed away on April 2, 1972, due to an illness. His main student, Masaaki Hatsumi, continued his teachings. Hatsumi later created the Bujinkan system, which teaches a martial art called Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu.
