Traces, Texas facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Traces is a neighborhood located in northwestern Harris County, Texas, United States. This area is not officially part of a city. A company called Mint Homes built houses in Traces.

The neighborhood also includes a special section called Trace Meadows. This part has 18 houses and was created to offer homes that people could afford. It was a project by a government office in Harris County that helps with housing and by a group called the Great Northwest Community Development Corporation (GNCDC). Mint Homes also helped build these houses.

Trace Meadows opened in 2004. The houses have different sizes, from about 1,236 to 2,020 square feet (115 to 188 m2). They were priced between $99,000 and $120,000 United States dollars. The GNCDC even gave a $5,000 grant (which is like a gift of money) to help people buy each three or four-bedroom house. Denis Matties, who was the president of the Traces Homeowners Association (a group of people who live in Traces and work together), said that everyone involved worked together to make sure the new neighborhood was built in a good way.
