Treasure Coast Square is a big shopping mall located in Martin County, Florida, USA. It has 115 stores, including large anchor stores like Dillard's, JCPenney, and Macy's. You can also find a food court and a big Regal movie theater with 16 screens. Simon Property Group manages the mall, which first opened its doors in 1987.
Mall History
Treasure Coast Square first opened in 1987. Back then, some of its main stores were J. C. Penney, Jordan Marsh, and Lord & Taylor. When this new mall opened, it became very popular. J. C. Penney even moved here from another mall called Martin Square Mall. For a while, the Jordan Marsh and Lord & Taylor stores had the only escalators in all of Martin County!
The mall grew bigger over time. In 1989, a Sears store was added. Then, in 1993, a Dillard's department store joined the mall. Some stores changed over the years. For example, when Lord & Taylor closed in 1990, its spot became a Mervyns store. Later, Mervyns closed in 1997, and a Borders Books & Music store opened there.
The Jordan Marsh store also changed its name to Burdines, and then later to Macy's. After Borders Books & Music closed down in 2011, an electronics store called hhgregg took its place, but it also closed in 2017.
The opening of Treasure Coast Square brought a lot of new shops and businesses to the area. In its first ten years, almost 800,000 square feet of new stores opened nearby because of the mall's success.
On November 8, 2018, it was announced that the Sears store at the mall would be closing in early 2019. This was part of a plan to close 40 Sears stores across the country.
