Tregembo Animal Park is a fun zoo located in Wilmington, North Carolina. It first opened in 1952 as the Tote-Em-In Zoo. George and June Tregembo started it, and it had many animals and interesting items. In 2004, the park became known as Tregembo Animal Park. The Tregembo family took over running the park again in 2003. They wanted the park to focus more on teaching people about animals.

Caring for Animals at Tregembo Animal Park

Caring for animals is very important at any zoo. Tregembo Animal Park works to make sure its animals are healthy and happy. After 2004, the Tregembo family aimed to make the park bigger. They also wanted to increase the size of the animal homes.

Zoo Standards and Inspections

Zoos in the United States are often checked by groups like the USDA. The USDA makes sure that zoos follow rules for animal care. Tregembo Animal Park usually gets good reports from these USDA inspections.

Another important group is the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The AZA sets very high standards for animal care and education. Many zoos in the U.S. are not accredited by the AZA. This means they do not meet the AZA's specific high standards.

In 2015, the USDA checked the park again. The park manager said that the USDA later confirmed the park met all requirements. Zoos always work to improve how they care for animals. They want to provide the best homes for all their animals.
