Trevor Laird is a British actor. He was born in London, England, on July 11, 1957. He has been in many popular films and TV shows.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Trevor Laird was born in Islington, London, in 1957. He learned acting at the Anna Scher Theatre. His first roles were in TV shows. In 1976, he was in a TV movie called Playthings. He also appeared in several episodes of Play For Today. These included "Victims of Apartheid" (1978) and "Waterloo Sunset" (1979).

In 1978, Laird helped start the Black Theatre Co-operative. This group is now called NitroBeat. He acted in their first play, Welcome Home Jacko, in 1979.

Breakthrough Roles in Film

Trevor Laird became well-known for his roles in two important films. In 1979, he played Ferdy in the movie Quadrophenia. This film was very popular. The next year, in 1980, he played Beefy in the cult classic film Babylon. He also had a small role in The Long Good Friday (1980). He appeared in another British film called Burning an Illusion.

Notable Television Appearances

Trevor Laird has been in many TV series. In 1986, he appeared in the science fiction show Doctor Who. He played a character named Frax. Years later, he returned to Doctor Who as a different character. He played Clive Jones. Clive was the father of Martha Jones, a companion to the Tenth Doctor.

In 1996, Laird was in the film Secrets & Lies. He played Hortense's brother. He also played Wesley Carter in the TV series Undercover Heart. In 2000, he was in the British gangster film Love, Honour and Obey. He played DI Mike Vedder in an episode of Waking the Dead in 2009.

More recently, in 2015, Laird appeared in the BBC TV series Death in Paradise. He played Vince Thuram. In 2021, he was in the BBC soap opera Doctors. He played Samuel Asante in an episode.
