Troy Bond's AFL Journey
Playing for Carlton (1994–1995)
Troy Bond started his football journey in South Australia with a team called Port Adelaide. He then joined the Carlton Football Club in the AFL in 1994. During his time at Carlton, he played 36 games and scored 26 goals.
In 1995, Carlton had a fantastic year and won the AFL championship. Troy played in 15 games that season. However, he was not chosen to play in the Grand Final, which is the big championship game.
Playing for Adelaide (1996–1999)
After the 1995 season, Troy moved to the Adelaide Football Club. He had a brilliant performance in the 1997 finals series, which are the playoff games leading up to the Grand Final. He scored 10 goals in these games, including four goals in the Grand Final itself. His team, the Adelaide Crows, won the championship that year!
In 1998, Troy faced some challenges with hamstring injuries. These injuries meant he could only play in 10 games that season. Because of a shoulder injury that needed surgery, he missed out on playing in the 1998 Grand Final. The Crows won again that year, so he missed the chance to win two championships in a row.
Troy also played only 10 games in 1999 due to more injuries. He worked hard to get very fit for the 2000 season, hoping to play in the midfield (the middle part of the field). However, a hip injury unfortunately ended his AFL career. He played a total of 58 games and scored 63 goals for the Adelaide Crows.
