Trump Steaks was a brand of steak and other meats. It was owned by Donald Trump. The brand started in 2007. It was sold only through stores like The Sharper Image and on the TV shopping channel QVC. Trump Steaks did not sell very well. The Sharper Image stopped selling them after only two months.

How Trump Steaks Started

Donald Trump officially registered the name "Trump Steaks" in August 2006. This meant he owned the name in the U.S. The steaks first went on sale on May 8, 2007. They were sold only through The Sharper Image stores, their catalogs, and their website.

To help promote the steaks, Donald Trump and some people from his TV show The Apprentice went to a Sharper Image store in New York City. This event helped show off the new steak brand.

What Meats Were Sold?

The meat for Trump Steaks came from a company called Buckhead Beef. This company also supplied meat to many of Trump's hotels and casinos. Besides steaks, the brand also sold burgers and sausages.

The steaks were certified as high quality by the USDA. They were sold in different packages. Prices ranged from $199 to $999. The most expensive package included many steaks and burgers. The brand's slogan was "The World's Greatest Steaks." You could even buy a Trump Steak Gift Card.

Sales and Discontinuation

Donald Trump was featured on the cover of the Sharper Image magazine in June 2007. This was to help promote the steaks. On June 5, 2007, Trump Steaks also started selling on QVC, a TV shopping channel. Donald Trump himself appeared on QVC to talk about the steaks.

However, Trump Steaks were sold at The Sharper Image for only two months. The company stopped selling them because they didn't sell well. The CEO of Sharper Image said they sold very few steaks. Advertisements with Trump's picture did make people visit the store, but they bought other things instead. QVC also stopped selling Trump Steaks around the same time.

Trump Steaks in the News

In August 2015, a magazine called TIME mentioned Trump Steaks. They put it on a list of some of Donald Trump's business projects that didn't succeed.

Later, in March 2016, during his presidential campaign, Donald Trump held a news conference. He had some steaks on display and said they were "Trump Steaks." He also showed Trump-branded wine and water. He used these items to show his success in business. However, people at the event noticed that the steaks were actually from a local butcher shop.

Around this time, people looked at reviews of Trump Steaks on QVC's website. Many of the reviews were not very good. In an interview, Trump explained that he didn't process the steaks himself. Instead, he bought them from local suppliers.
