Turkey Creek (Econlockhatchee River tributary) facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Turkey Creek is a cool little waterway, also known as a creek, that flows into a bigger river called the Econlockhatchee River. You can find Turkey Creek in a community called Narcoossee, which is in the southeastern part of Orlando, in the sunny state of Florida.

Discovering Turkey Creek

Turkey Creek starts its journey from a place called Turkey Creek Bay. This bay is actually the northern beginning of a large swamp area known as the Econlockhatchee River Swamp. This swamp stretches all the way down to Lake Conlin, which is where the Econlockhatchee River itself begins.

Where Does It Flow?

From Turkey Creek Bay, the creek flows north. It goes under a road called Wewahootee Road and then under a bigger highway known as State Road 528. People often call State Road 528 the Beachline Expressway.

Meeting Other Waterways

Another smaller stream, called the Green Branch, joins Turkey Creek. This happens about 1,100 feet before Turkey Creek finally flows into the Econlockhatchee River. You can find this meeting point at coordinates 28°27′39.7″N 81°06′54.2″W.
