What the Monument Looks Like
This monument has words carved into its front. It shows the years 1861—1865, which were the years of the American Civil War.
The front also says:
Erected by the
Daughters of
the Confederacy
to the Confederate
Soldiers of
Macon County
[in larger letters] C.S.A.
"C.S.A." stands for the Confederate States of America. This was a group of southern states that separated from the United States during the Civil War.
On both the right and left sides of the monument, you can see designs of Confederate flags. The back of the monument has a shield design that is not identified. It also has the words "Honor the Brave" and "C.S.A." again.
