Twistee Treat is a fun chain of ice cream shops. It started in 1983 in North Fort Myers, Florida. These shops are special because their buildings look like giant soft-serve ice cream cones!
Today, the company is growing. They are opening new stores in the Orlando and Tampa areas. The newest Twistee Treat shops have a cool chocolate dip design. They also have LED "sprinkles" on the cone roof.

The Sweet History of Twistee Treat
Twistee Treat began as a group of ice cream shops. They were run by different owners, like a franchise. The very first shop opened in 1983. It was in North Fort Myers, Florida. All the buildings were shaped like ice cream cones.
Early Days and Changes
The first Twistee Treat company had 23 locations. All of them were in Florida. But the company faced some problems. It went out of business in 1983.
Then, a new Twistee Treat company started in 1996. This one was based in Orlando, Florida. By 1999, this new company had 35 shops. These shops were in Florida and Missouri. They even sold a franchise to a company in Chatham, Ontario.
Twistee Treat USA Forms
In 2010, a new company was created. It was called Twistee Treat USA. This company was started by Intram Investments. They are an investment firm from Orlando. Twistee Treat USA began building brand new stores.
How Twistee Treat USA Grew
In 2010, Twistee Treat USA bought the rights to the company. This meant they could use the name and building designs. They started by buying old shops from previous owners. Then, they fixed them up.
They also created a new design for their buildings. This new design is used for all their future shops. All new Twistee Treat shops are owned by the main company.
Older Shops Still Serving Treats
While new Twistee Treat shops are company-owned, some older ones still exist. These shops were from the earlier companies. They are owned by private individuals. These owners were allowed to keep using the name and building design.
These older, privately owned shops can be a bit different. Their menus might not be exactly the same. For example, they might not have the famous brownie boat. But they still serve delicious ice cream treats!
