Twistee Treat is a cool chain of ice cream shops! They started in 1983 in North Fort Myers, Florida. What makes them special? Their buildings look just like giant soft-serve ice cream cones! Imagine getting ice cream from a huge cone building.
Today, Twistee Treat is growing. You can find new stores in places like Orlando and Tampa. These new company-owned stores even have a chocolate dip and colorful LED "sprinkles" on their cone roofs!

The Story of Twistee Treat
The very first Twistee Treat ice cream shops opened in 1983. They were in North Fort Myers, Florida. These original shops were part of a system where people could buy a "franchise." This meant they could open their own Twistee Treat using the company's name and style.
Changes Over Time
The first Twistee Treat company had 23 locations. But in the early 1990s, the company had money problems and closed down. Then, a new Twistee Treat company started in 1996 in Orlando, Florida. By 1999, this new company had 35 shops in Florida and Missouri. They even sold a franchise to a company in Canada!
Twistee Treat USA Begins
In 2010, a brand new company called Twistee Treat USA took over. They bought the rights to the name and the unique cone-shaped buildings. This new company started building many new Twistee Treat stores. They even created a fresh design for future buildings.
Old Stores and New Stores
When the first Twistee Treat companies closed, some people who owned the older shops were allowed to keep using the name and the cone-shaped building design. This means you might find some Twistee Treat stores that are still privately owned. They are not part of the main company now.
What's Different?
These older, privately owned stores can sometimes have different menu items. For example, they might not have the famous "brownie boat." All the brand new Twistee Treat buildings you see today are owned by the main Twistee Treat USA company.
