What is the Two Penny Blue?
The Two Penny Blue stamp was meant to be released at the same time as the Penny Black. However, the earliest date found on a Two Penny Blue stamp is May 8, 1840. This was two days after the Penny Black first appeared.
Why is it special?
The Two Penny Blue stamp is much harder to find than the Penny Black. Because it is rarer, it is also usually more expensive for collectors. Both stamps were important steps in how mail was sent around the world. They helped make sending letters easier and cheaper for everyone.
