Tyler Clark Burke is a Canadian artist, illustrator, designer, and writer. She lives in Toronto, Ontario. She helped start a Canadian music company called Three Gut Records. Tyler has also written and drawn pictures for two children's books.

Early Life and Learning

Tyler Clark Burke grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She went to high school in Kingston, Ontario. Her father was a professor at Queen's University there. Tyler later went to the University of Guelph. However, she returned to Kingston because she became sick with mononucleosis and chronic fatigue syndrome. She moved to Toronto when she was 21 years old.

Career Highlights

Design and Visual Art

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Tyler worked as a freelance graphic designer. She also worked as an art director. She took the cover photo for the musician Peaches' first album, The Teaches of Peaches. Tyler also designed album art for other Canadian musicians. These included Jim Guthrie, Royal City, and Feist.

By 1997, Tyler was a graphic designer for Eye Weekly in Toronto. She later became the art director. She won two awards for her cover designs from the Advertising & Design Club of Canada. Tyler has also shown her artwork with art curator Katharine Mulherin.

Three Gut Records

In 1999, Tyler Clark Burke co-founded Three Gut Records with Lisa Moran. This was a Canadian independent record label. The company worked with artists like Royal City and The Constantines. Tyler left Three Gut Records in 2003.

Party Hosting

From 2000 to 2008, Tyler hosted many popular art, dance, and music parties. One of these was called Santa Cruz. These parties were often featured in local news, even on the cover of The Toronto Star. In 2007, a writer from the Toronto Star described Santa Cruz parties. He said they were Tyler Clark Burke's idea. He also mentioned that guests were given a number and a mailbox. This allowed people to leave messages for others they liked.

In 2009, Tyler and her husband, Jeremy Stewart, hosted special parties. They were called Miracle Fruit Toronto. At these events, people tasted miracle fruit.

Children's Literature

In 2017, Tyler wrote and illustrated her first children's book. It was for Owlkids and called Bill Bowerbird and the Unbearable Beak-Ache. Reviewers liked the "rich with colors" illustrations.

Her second book with Owlkids was Where Are You Now?. This picture book talks about death, change, and growing. It received good reviews. School Library Journal said it was "important... for any child experiencing the loss of a loved one." Booklist called it "insightful and thought-provoking." Kirkus Reviews noted its "sumptuous illustrations and thought-provoking verses." They said it could be a quiet bedtime story or start a deep conversation.

Her book, The Last Loose Tooth, was published in October 2020.
