The U-NO Bar was a special chocolate candy bar. It had a soft, creamy center, like a chocolate truffle. This center was mixed with tiny almond pieces. A thin layer of milk chocolate covered the whole bar. It was wrapped in a shiny silver wrapper.
The U-NO Bar was similar in look to a 3 Musketeers bar. However, it had a richer, creamier texture. It used to come in two flavors: Original and Mint. The Mint flavor was stopped a while ago.
Sadly, the U-NO Candy Bar was discontinued in April 2025. This happened because the factory that made them, the Hayward facility, closed down.
History of the U-NO Bar
The U-NO Bar was first created in the 1920s. It was made by a company called the Cardinet Candy Company. Later, in 1978, another company took over. This was the Annabelle Candy Company. They continued to make the U-NO Bar for many years.
What Was Inside?
A single U-NO bar (about 38.3 grams) had 235 calories. It contained 16 grams of total fat, with 10 grams being saturated fat. There were 12 grams of sugar and 3 grams of protein. It also had 42 milligrams of sodium.
U-NO Bar Ingredients
The main ingredients in a U-NO Bar were milk chocolate and sugar. The milk chocolate included cocoa butter and chocolate liquor. It also had whole milk powder and soy lecithin. Other ingredients were hydrogenated coconut oil and palm kernel oil. Cocoa powder, nonfat milk powder, and whey powder were also used. Roasted almonds, soy lecithin, and artificial vanilla flavor completed the taste. A little salt was added too.
The candy was made in a factory that also used milk, eggs, wheat, tree nuts, and peanuts. This information was important for people with allergies.
