About the U.S. Bank Building
This building was designed by a famous architecture firm called Johnson/Burgee Architects. It is one of the tallest buildings in Chicago, ranking as the 57th tallest in the city.
Design and Special Features
For many years, the building's lobby had a special artwork. It was a large tapestry made by artist Helena Hernmarck. This tapestry was called "The 1909 Plan of Chicago." It showed a big public square that was planned for Chicago back in 1909.
How the Building Got Its Name
In May 2013, U.S. Bank decided to rent much more space in the building. They increased their rented area from 66,000 square feet (6,100 m2) to 110,000 square feet (10,000 m2). Because they rented so much space, they also got the right to put their name on the building. This agreement lasts until 2026. That's why it's now called the U.S. Bank Building!
