The U.S. Bank Tower is a very tall building, also known as a skyscraper, located in Los Angeles, California, United States. It stands at an impressive height of 310 meters (1018 feet). This building has 73 floors above ground and two floors below ground.

It was finished in 1989 and quickly became one of the tallest buildings in the United States. For many years, it was the tallest building in the U.S. located west of the Mississippi River.

When it was first built, the skyscraper was called Library Tower. This name came from its location next to the Los Angeles Central Library. In 1993, the building's name changed to U.S. Bank Tower. This happened because U.S. Bank became a major tenant in the building.

Building Design and Features

The U.S. Bank Tower was designed by the famous architecture firms Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and Ellerbe Becket. Its unique design includes a crown-like top that lights up at night. This makes it a recognizable part of the Los Angeles skyline.

Inside the Tower

The building is mainly used for commercial offices. Many businesses have their offices here. It has 24 elevators to help people move quickly between floors. The tower also has a special observation deck called OUE Skyspace.

OUE Skyspace

OUE Skyspace was an observation deck on the 69th and 70th floors. Visitors could enjoy amazing 360-degree views of Los Angeles from here. It even had a special glass slide, called the Skyslide, on the outside of the building. This slide allowed people to slide from the 70th floor to the 69th floor. The Skyslide was a thrilling experience for many visitors.

Location and Importance

The U.S. Bank Tower is located at 633 West Fifth Street in downtown Los Angeles. Its central location makes it an important landmark in the city. The building has been featured in many movies and TV shows.

A City Landmark
