UNY Co., Ltd. (ユニー株式会社, Yunī Kabushikigaisha) is a Japanese company that runs a large chain of supermarkets. Most of its stores are located in the Chūbu and Kantō regions of Japan. The company's main office is in Inazawa, Aichi Prefecture.

UNY also operates internationally. For example, there is a branch in Cityplaza, a shopping mall in Taikoo Shing, Hong Kong. The Hong Kong stores are run by a company called Uny (HK) Co., Ltd. and often use the brand name APiTA.

In 2018, the Hong Kong part of UNY's business was bought by a company called Henderson Investment Ltd. The stores in Hong Kong were officially renamed to Unicorn Stores (HK) Ltd.

UNY's Store Brands

UNY operates several different types of stores, each with its own name and style. This allows the company to serve different kinds of customers.

APiTA and Piago

  • APiTA stores are large general merchandise stores. This means they sell a wide variety of products, not just food. You can find clothing, home goods, and groceries all in one place.
  • Piago stores are supermarkets that focus mainly on selling food and daily necessities. They are usually smaller than APiTA stores.

Circle K Sunkus

UNY used to operate a popular chain of convenience stores called Circle K Sunkus. These small stores were found all over Japan, selling snacks, drinks, and quick meals. However, these stores were later converted into FamilyMart stores, another major convenience store brand in Japan.

UNY in Hong Kong

The Unicorn Stores (HK) Ltd. company runs several stores in Hong Kong. These include:

  • An APiTA general store in Tai Koo.
  • UNY supermarkets in Lok Fu, Yuen Long, and Tseung Kwan O.
  • Guu San, a newer type of store in Tsim Sha Tsui that focuses on high-quality Japanese food and lifestyle products.
