Museum History

The idea for the museum started in 1995. It first opened its doors in 1996 at the Moriarty, New Mexico airport. In 2006, the museum moved to its current home. This new spot is at 918 Historic US Route 66 East in Moriarty.

The museum's first president was George Applebay. He worked with a team of ten volunteers. They spent ten years gathering over 50 gliders and models. They also worked hard to find the perfect location for the museum.
