Ugo Ferrante (born July 18, 1945 – died November 29, 2004) was an Italian footballer. He played as a defender, often in a special role called a "sweeper" or "libero." This means he was a central defender who could also move forward to help with attacks. Later in his career, he also became a manager.

Playing for Clubs
Ugo Ferrante played for a few different football clubs during his career. He started with Pro Vercelli.
Fiorentina Years (1963–1972)
His most successful time was with Fiorentina. He played for them from 1963 to 1972. With Fiorentina, he helped the team win several important competitions.
In 1966, they won the Torneo di Viareggio, which is a youth football tournament. They also won the Mitropa Cup and the Coppa Italia in the same year.
A big achievement was winning the 1968–69 Serie A title. This means Fiorentina was the best team in Italy's top football league that season. He also played in other European competitions like the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
Vicenza Years (1972–1976)
After Fiorentina, Ugo Ferrante moved to Vicenza. He played for them from 1972 to 1976.

1970 FIFA World Cup
He was part of the Italian team for the 1970 FIFA World Cup. This is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world. Even though he was in the squad, he did not play in any games. Italy did very well in that tournament, reaching the final match. However, they lost to Brazil in the final.

Ugo Ferrante passed away in 2004 when he was 59 years old. He died because of a throat tumor.
