Uilliam Ó Duinnín: A Scribe's Life

Uilliam was the son of Domhnall Óg Ó Duinnín. He owned a special handwritten book, known as a manuscript, called MS 1336. He might have sold this valuable book to Edward Lhuyd, a famous Welsh expert who studied languages and nature.

One of Uilliam's most important jobs was copying the Old Testament of the Bible into the Irish language. This was originally translated by William Bedell. Uilliam's careful work helped make sure this important text could be read by more people. His copy was later published in 1685.
