Uncle Scrooge Adventures was a popular comic book series published by Gladstone Publishing. It ran from 1987 to 1997 and featured the exciting journeys of Scrooge McDuck, the richest duck in the world, and his adventurous nephews, Donald, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Unlike the main Uncle Scrooge comic, this series often told longer, full-length stories, much like classic pulp adventure tales.

The series first ran for 21 issues from 1987 to 1990. Then, Gladstone Publishing stopped publishing Disney comics for a while. When Gladstone got their license back in 1993, they started the series again, picking up with issue 22. The comic continued until 1997, when Gladstone Publishing faced problems and stopped printing comics after issue 54.

One story, Horsing Around with History, from issue 33, even won an award! It was named the Favorite Comic-Book Story of 1996 by the Comics Buyer's Guide Fan Award.

How the Comic Began

This comic series was first planned to come out in 1987. It was meant to be connected to the new DuckTales TV show that was starting. The idea was to feature classic stories by famous Disney comic artists like Carl Barks. These stories had inspired the DuckTales show.

However, just before the first comic was published, Gladstone Publishing and Disney decided to change the name. Instead of DuckTales, it became Uncle Scrooge Adventures. It would be similar to another comic called Donald Duck Adventures. Because this change happened so quickly, some early advertisements still used the DuckTales name. Later, Gladstone did publish a separate DuckTales comic series from 1988 to 1990. That series included both old Uncle Scrooge stories and new ones based on the TV show.
