History of the University

How the University Group Started

The University of Paris-Seine began as a special type of group in France. These groups are called "Pôle de recherche et d'enseignement supérieur" (PRES). They help organize universities and research places. This specific group brought together schools from the western part of the Île-de-France region.

The schools covered many subjects. These included basic sciences, engineering, and business. The group was first named "Université du grand ouest parisien." It was officially created on February 6, 2012. It was set up as a public scientific cooperation body.

Renaming the Group

The group changed its name on March 1, 2015. It became known as the "Université Paris-Seine." This new name helped show its connection to the famous city of Paris.
