UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital is a very important hospital in Aurora, Colorado. It is often called University Hospital. This hospital is part of UCHealth, a large health system. It is a special kind of hospital called a Level I trauma center. This means it can treat the most serious injuries and emergencies. It is also the main hospital where doctors learn and train for the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

This hospital is known for being one of the best in the United States. In 2018, it was ranked among the top 50 hospitals for many different medical areas. It was even rated as the #15 best adult hospital in the whole country.

Hospital History

The hospital started as the University of Colorado University Hospital on October 1, 1989. It was first set up as a non-profit organization. Later, in 1991, it became a government agency called the University of Colorado Hospital Authority.

In 2012, the University of Colorado Hospital Authority joined with Poudre Valley Health. They formed a new company called University of Colorado Health. This company started doing business as UCHealth in 2014.

In 2015, UCHealth also partnered with Adeptus Health. This partnership helped create more emergency care centers in different parts of Colorado, including Denver and Colorado Springs.
