Uno's Garden facts for kids

Uno's Garden is a wonderful picture book created by the Australian author and artist Graeme Base. It tells an important story about our planet. The book explores big ideas like protecting nature, saving animal homes, and preventing animals from disappearing forever. It also includes fun math challenges and games! You can even try to find a certain number of plants, animals, buildings, and sometimes a tricky "snortelpig" on each page. All the amazing creatures and plants in the book, like the moopaloop and frinklepod, were invented by Graeme Base himself.

The main character is a human named Uno. He is the first person to move into a beautiful, wild forest. As more and more people follow Uno and build homes, the forest starts to change. The story shows how, as the number of people and buildings grows, the number of unique plants and animals in the forest shrinks. It's a gentle reminder about how our actions can affect the environment. In 2007, the book was even the theme for the famous Myer Christmas Window displays in Melbourne and Brisbane, Australia.
