Location of the Urbasa Range in Navarre

The Urbasa Range is a beautiful mountain area in western Navarre, Spain. People also call it Urbasa mendilerroa in Basque and Sierra de Urbasa in Spanish. It's part of the larger Basque Mountains. The highest point in Urbasa is a peak called Baiza, which is 1,183 meters tall.

Urbasa is a special type of mountain range called karstic. This means it's made of rocks like limestone that can dissolve over time. This process creates cool features like caves, sinkholes, and underground rivers. Scientists have also found many nummulites fossils here. Nummulites are tiny, coin-shaped fossils of sea creatures that lived long, long ago.

Together with the nearby Andia range, Urbasa forms the Urbasa-Andia Natural Park. This park helps protect the unique nature and animals of the area.
