Uri Shraga Orbach (Hebrew: אורי שרגא אורבך) was an Israeli writer, journalist, and politician. He was born on March 28, 1960, and passed away on February 16, 2015. He served as a member of the Knesset, which is Israel's parliament. He also held a special job as the Minister of Pensioner Affairs.

Uri Orbach's Life Story
Uri Orbach was born in Petah Tikva, a city in Israel. He went to a special school called a Hesder yeshiva. This type of school combines religious studies with military service. Uri served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). He was part of the IDF Armored Corps, which means he worked with tanks.
Journalism and Writing
After his military service, Uri became a journalist. He wrote articles for a big newspaper called Yedioth Ahronoth. He also co-hosted a radio show called "The Last Word" on Army Radio.
Uri loved writing for young people. He wrote several children's books. One of his famous books was Donkeys on the Roof and Other Stories. He also created and edited two popular Israeli children's magazines. These magazines were called Otiot and Sukariot. He even wrote a dictionary of slang used by people who follow Religious Zionism.
Political Career
Uri Orbach decided to enter politics. He joined a political party called the Jewish Home. In 2009, he became a member of the Knesset. The Knesset is where laws are made in Israel.
He kept his seat in the Knesset after the 2013 elections. On March 18, 2013, he was given an important role. He became the Minister of Pensioner Affairs. In this job, he worked to help older people in Israel.
Uri Orbach lived in Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut with his wife and their four children.
Later Life and Passing
In January 2015, Uri Orbach took a break from his political work. He needed to focus on his health. Sadly, his health got worse in February 2015. He passed away in a hospital in Jerusalem on February 16, 2015. After his passing, Hillel Horowitz took his place in the Knesset.
