Dr. Ushadevi Narendra Bhosle is a brilliant Indian mathematician, a teacher, and a scientist who studies math. She is an expert in a special area of math called Algebraic Geometry. She also worked on complex mathematical ideas known as "moduli spaces of bundles."
Early Life and Learning
Ushadevi Bhosle earned her first university degree, a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), in 1969 from the University of Pune. She then received her Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in 1971 from Shivaji University. In 1971, she began her advanced studies at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. She completed her Ph.D., which is a very high degree in academics, in 1980. Her teacher and guide for this important work was S. Ramanan.
Her Career
Dr. Bhosle started her career at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in 1971 as a research assistant. She worked there until 1974. After that, she became a Research Associate II at the same institute, staying in that role from 1974 to 1977.
She continued to advance at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. She was a Research Fellow from 1977 to 1982, and then a Fellow from 1982 to 1990. From 1991 to 1995, she held the position of Reader. Later, she became an Associate Professor from 1995 to 1998, and then a full Professor from 1998 to 2011. Her final role at the institute was Senior Professor, which she held from 2012 to 2014.
After her time at the Tata Institute, she was a Raja Ramanna Fellow at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore from 2014 to 2017. Since January 2019, she has been an INSA Senior Scientist at the Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore.
Memberships
Dr. Bhosle is a member of several important science committees, including FASc, FNASc, FNASI, and VBAC international committees. She was also a senior associate of the International Centre of Theoretical Physics in Italy. She is a fellow member of the Indian National Science Academy, Delhi, the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, and the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad, India. Being a fellow member means she is recognized as an expert in her field by these respected organizations.

Dr. Bhosle has written and published 66 academic papers during her career. These papers share her research and discoveries with other mathematicians around the world.
Awards and Honours
Dr. Bhosle has received special recognition for her contributions. In 2000, she was given the Ramaswamy Aiyer Memorial Award. Later, in 2010, she was honored with the Stree Shakti Science Samman.

Besides her passion for mathematics, Dr. Bhosle enjoys other creative activities. She likes drawing, painting, reading books, and listening to music. She currently lives in Mumbai, India.
