Vâlcea (sometimes spelled Vîlcea) is a county, also known as a judeţ, in Romania. It is located in the central-southern part of the country. This county is special because it sits across two historical regions: Oltenia and Muntenia. The Olt River actually divides these two regions right through Vâlcea County. The main city and capital of Vâlcea County is Râmnicu Vâlcea.
