Värmbols GoIF facts for kids

Värmbols GoIF was a sports club from Katrineholm, a town in Sweden. It started way back in 1927. This club was special because it had teams for two different sports: soccer and bandy. Bandy is a winter sport played on ice, a bit like ice hockey but with different rules and a ball instead of a puck.

What Was Värmbols GoIF?

Värmbols GoIF, which stands for Värmbols Gymnastik- och Idrottsförening, was a place where people could play sports and be part of a team. It was founded in 1927, which means it was around for over 60 years! The club helped many athletes in Katrineholm play their favorite sports.

Bandy Team's Success

The men's bandy team was quite good. They even played in the top league in Sweden, called the Swedish top division, in 1931 and 1932. This was a big achievement for the club! Overall, the men's bandy team played in the top division for seven seasons. That's a lot of time competing against the best teams in the country.

Soccer Teams' Journey

Värmbols GoIF also had soccer teams. The women's soccer team played in the Swedish third division during the 1980s. This shows they were a strong team, competing at a high level. The men's soccer team also played in the Swedish third division in 1975 and 1976. Both teams worked hard and represented their club well.

The Club's New Beginning

After many years, Värmbols GoIF decided to change. On December 3, 1990, the club split into three new, separate clubs. This allowed each sport to have its own dedicated club.

• DFK Värmbol became the new home for the women's soccer team.
• Värmbol-Katrineholm BK was formed for the bandy team.

This split helped the different sports focus even more on their specific games and grow stronger. Even though Värmbols GoIF doesn't exist anymore, its spirit lives on in these new clubs!
