The Voice of America Persian News Network (VOA-PNN) is a special news and information service. It is run by the United States of America government. This network broadcasts its programs in the Persian language. Its main office is in Washington D.C., the capital city of the U.S.
VOA-PNN started its television shows on October 18, 1994. These shows were one hour long. Before that, its radio programs began on November 22, 1979. The radio shows were 30 minutes each day.
Who Leads VOA Persian?
Many people have helped lead VOA-PNN over the years. The first person to manage it was Ahmadreza Baharloo. Other managers included Kambiz Mohammadi, Shila Ganji, and Behrouz Abbassi. Behrouz Souresrafil, James Glassman, Hida Fouladvand, and Ramin Asgard also served as leaders. Today, the current manager of VOA-PNN is Setareh Derakhshesh.
What Programs Does VOA Persian Offer?
As of July 2007, VOA-PNN offered different types of programs. It broadcast one hour of radio shows every day. For television, it created seven hours of new programs daily. It also had an active website where people could find news and information.
