V is a popular energy drink brand. It's made by a company called Suntory Oceania, which is based in New Zealand. V first came out in Methven, New Zealand in August 1997. It then launched in Australia in 1999.
V is very popular! It's the top energy drink in both New Zealand and Australia. The company that makes V says these drinks are not for children. They also say V is not recommended for pregnant women or people who are sensitive to caffeine.

V Drinks You Can Find Now
Standard V Flavors
- V Energy (also called "Green V" or "Original") is the very first flavor of V. It was released in 1997. You can also find a sugar-free version of this original flavor.
- Blue (also called "Blue V") has a pineapple and passion fruit flavor. It was introduced in October 2011. V challenges you to guess what flavors are in it! There's also a sugar-free version of Blue V.
- Black is a flavor that was last released in 2024. It's described as having a "strong coffee flavor."
- Grape Burst (also called "Purple V") is a grape-flavored drink. It was introduced in 2025.
Sugar-Free V Options
- V Refresh came out in 2022. These drinks have no sugar and fewer calories. They come in cool matte pastel-colored cans. The first flavors were Citrus Lemonade, Pineapple & Watermelon, and Green Apple Lemonade. A Blackcurrant & Yuzu flavor was released in September 2024.
- V Riise launched in 2025 with two flavors: Sparkling Blackcurrant and Sparkling Mandarin. V Riise is advertised as giving "slow release energy." This is because it uses a special sugar called isomaltulose.
- In July 2025, V released three new low-calorie flavors. These are part of their Rebel Collection. The flavors are Cotton Candy, Watermelon Candy, and Strawberries & Cream.
V Drinks That Are No Longer Made
- V Pure was a different flavor released in 2016. It was made from six natural ingredients. These included apple juice, sparkling water, lemon juice, and Guarana seed extract. V Pure was stopped by 2023.
- V Tortured Orchard Raspberry Lemonade was first introduced in 2018. In 2020, this flavor came back for good and was renamed 'V Raspberry Lemonade'.
- V Tropical Tang was a tropical-flavored drink released in May 2023. It was said to taste like "guava, pineapple, and berries." It was only sold in large 500ml cans.
V Energy Shots
V used to sell small energy shots called "Pocket Rockets." These were said to be as strong as the larger cans. They had a very bitter taste. This taste was meant to stop young children from drinking them.
V Iced Drinks
In 2018, V released two Iced Coffee and two Iced Chocolate drinks. These were available in New Zealand and Australia.
V Advertisements and Fun Stuff
V has sponsored some TV shows and promotions.
- In 2003, V sponsored I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in the UK.
- In 2015, V had a promotion called #VChat. Cans were sold with different letters of the alphabet. Fans could use these letters to spell out a wish. They would then submit a photo and could win the prize they spelled out! This promotion was brought back in 2019.
- In April 2018, V teamed up with the Australian donut store Donut King. They released a V-flavored donut! This donut had a gooey Guarana filling and was covered in green sugar crystals.
