Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Vail Lacrosse Shootout is a big lacrosse tournament that happens every year in Vail, Colorado. It's a fun event where teams from all over the world come to play. The tournament usually takes place from late June to early July. You can find games happening in Vail, Avon, and Edwards, but most of the action is in Vail at places like Ford Field.

This tournament has different age groups, so many people can play! For boys and men, there are six groups:

  • Chumash (for younger players)
  • High School (under 19 years old)
  • Elite (19 years and older)
  • Masters (33 years and older)
  • Supermasters (40 years and older)
  • Grandmasters (50 years and older)

For girls and women, there are three groups:

  • Chumash
  • High School
  • Elite

The first tournament was held way back in 1973. Since then, it has grown a lot and become very popular! Teams come from all over the United States and even other countries. Players include local teams and groups made up of college alumni. Many players have played at high levels, including those from Division I, Division II, and Division III colleges.

The results for champions before 2002 are not available on the Vail Lacrosse website.

High School Boys
