The Story of Vails Corners
How Vails Corners Got Its Name
This community was once known by another name: Vails Cross Roads. It was named after the local Vail family, who were important in the area.
A Look Back at Early Days
Imagine traveling through Ohio in the 1830s! Vails Cross Roads was an important stop. It had a tavern, which was like an inn or a hotel where travelers could rest, eat, and find shelter.
Later, in 1850, a post office was opened in the community. It was called Vail's Cross Roads Post Office. This was a big deal because it meant people could send and receive letters and packages more easily. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing in 1873.
