Valley Ridge, Missouri facts for kids
Valley Ridge is a small place in Dunklin County, Missouri. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
The Story of Valley Ridge
A post office opened in Valley Ridge in 1878. This was a very important place for people to send and get mail. In 1894, the name of the post office changed a little bit to "Valleyridge." However, the post office closed down in 1908.
The name "Valley Ridge" is quite interesting! Even though the community is located on top of a ridge (which is like a long, narrow hill), the soil there is very rich and good for growing crops. It's almost as fertile as the soil you would find in a valley!
