Vanailson Luciano de Souza Alves, known as Vaná, is a professional football player from Brazil. He was born on April 25, 1991. Vaná plays as a goalkeeper for Aris Limassol, a club in Cyprus.

He started his career playing for Coritiba in Brazil. Later, he spent several years playing in Portugal for teams like Feirense, Porto, and Famalicão. He played in 52 matches in Portugal's top league, the Primeira Liga. Vaná even helped Porto win the league title in the 2017–18 season. Since 2021, he has been a key player for Aris Limassol in Cyprus.

Vaná's Football Journey

Starting in Brazil

Vaná was born in Planaltina, Brazil. He joined Clube Atlético Paranaense in 2006 to start his football training. In 2010, he moved to Coritiba Foot Ball Club. By 2012, he was playing for Coritiba's main team.

During his time at Coritiba, Vaná was loaned to other clubs to gain more experience. He played for Canoas Sport Club and Associação Chapecoense de Futebol. People even started calling him "Vaneuer" because his playing style reminded them of the famous German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

In 2015, Vaná played in the final of the 2015 Campeonato Paranaense tournament. The next year, in 2016, he joined ABC Futebol Clube. With ABC, he helped the team win the 2016 Campeonato Potiguar and get promoted to a higher league in Brazil.

Playing in Portugal

In 2016, Vaná moved to Portugal to play for C.D. Feirense, a team that had just been promoted to the Primeira Liga, Portugal's top football league. He played very well in his first season. His good performances caught the attention of bigger clubs.

On July 15, 2017, Vaná signed a four-year contract with Porto, one of Portugal's biggest teams. At Porto, he was the backup goalkeeper to the legendary Iker Casillas. Vaná made his first appearance for Porto on May 12, 2018. Porto had already won the league title that season, so it was a special debut.

A year later, Vaná played in the final three matches of the season after Casillas had a health issue. He won all three games. He also played in the 2019 Taça de Portugal Final, which is Portugal's main cup competition.

Time with Famalicão

In 2019, Porto signed another goalkeeper, and Vaná became the third-choice. So, on August 31, 2019, he was loaned to Famalicão, another team in the Primeira Liga. He made his debut for Famalicão on October 30, 2019. He played 23 games for the club that season.

On October 2, 2020, Vaná returned to Famalicão permanently. He competed for the starting goalkeeper spot with other players, including a young talent named Luiz Júnior.

Success with Aris Limassol

On July 1, 2021, Vaná left Portugal and moved to Cyprus. He joined Aris Limassol, a team that had just been promoted to the Cypriot First Division.

Vaná quickly became a very important player for Aris Limassol.

  • In the 2021–22 season, he helped Aris finish 4th. This was a big achievement because it meant the club qualified for European football competitions for the first time ever!
  • The next season, 2022–23, Vaná helped Aris Limassol win the league title for the very first time in the club's history!
  • For his amazing performance, Vaná was voted the best goalkeeper in the league that season. He also received awards for the "Best Save" and "Golden Gloves."
