Defense of Van

What Was the Van Resistance?

The Van Resistance was a time when Armenians in the city of Van stood up for themselves. They faced attacks from the Ottoman army and local groups. This happened during a very difficult period in history.

The fighting took place from April 19 to May 17, 1915. The city of Van was a key location in the eastern part of the Ottoman Empire. Many Armenians lived there.

Why Did It Happen?
