Vanessa Marano (born October 31, 1992) is an American actress and producer. She is well-known for her roles in TV shows and movies. From 2011 to 2017, she played Bay Kennish in the popular TV series Switched at Birth. She has also appeared in other shows like Gilmore Girls and Grey's Anatomy.
Early Life and Family
Vanessa Marano was born in Los Angeles, California. Her mother, Ellen, owns a children's theater called the Agoura Children's Theatre. Vanessa has a younger sister, Laura Marano, who is also an actress. Vanessa can speak Italian, as her father has Italian family roots.
Vanessa Marano's Acting Career
Vanessa Marano started acting professionally when she was seven years old. Her mother actually tried to keep her and her sister out of show business. She took them to an agent she thought would say no, but Vanessa was accepted! Her sister Laura also impressed the agency at the same time.
Since then, Vanessa has worked in many productions. Some of her first big TV roles included playing Jack Malone's older daughter in Without a Trace. Her real-life sister Laura played her younger sister in that show. Vanessa also appeared as April Nardini in Gilmore Girls.
She starred as Layne Abeley in the movie The Clique, which was based on popular books. She also played Samantha Combs in Dear Lemon Lima. Vanessa was in an episode of Ghost Whisperer with Jennifer Love Hewitt. She played Eden on The Young and the Restless and Hope on Scoundrels.
From 2011 to 2017, Vanessa had a main role as Bay Kennish in the ABC Family TV show Switched at Birth. In 2013, she starred in Restless Virgins, a TV movie inspired by a true story. In 2019, she acted alongside her sister Laura in the movie Saving Zoë. Vanessa was also a producer for Saving Zoë and The Royal Treatment.
