Veale Gardens is a lovely park located in the Adelaide Park Lands. These park lands are green spaces that surround and are part of the City of Adelaide in Australia. You can find Veale Gardens in the South Parklands. It is bordered by Greenhill Road, Peacock Road, South Terrace, and Sir Lewis Cohen Avenue. The main ways to enter the gardens are from South Terrace.

The gardens are named after a special person named William Charles Douglas Veale. He was the "Town Clerk" for Adelaide from 1947 to 1965. A Town Clerk is like a city manager, helping to run the city's daily business. William Veale was also a good friend of the mayor at that time, A. C. Rymill.

What You Can See at Veale Gardens

Veale Gardens is famous for its beautiful plants and features. It's a great place to explore and relax.

Rose Gardens

One of the main attractions is a large garden filled with roses. There are more than 50 different kinds of roses to see! Two special rose beds are located here:

  • The "City of Adelaide" rose bed is near the South Terrace entrance.
  • The "Queen Adelaide" rose bed is at the corner of South Terrace and Sir Lewis Cohen Avenue.

Walks and Water Features

You can take many paths through the park. These paths lead you through different garden areas. You will find pretty water features, like small ponds or fountains. There is also a greenhouse where plants are grown. Many parts of the gardens offer lush, shady spots, perfect for a quiet walk.

Adelaide Pavilion

Veale Gardens is also home to the Adelaide Pavilion. This building is a restaurant and a place where events are held. It is a very popular spot for weddings. Many people also come here to take beautiful wedding photos.
