Velachery is a busy neighborhood in the southern part of Chennai, a large city in Tamil Nadu, India. It's a very important and active area within Chennai.

Velachery Lake and Temples

Long ago, the Velachery Lake was huge, covering about 250 acres. Two very old temples, Selliamman and Narasimhar, were built near the southern edge of this lake. Today, Velachery is still home to many well-known temples.

Getting Around Velachery

Velachery has its own railway station, called Velachery railway station. This station is part of the MRTS (Mass Rapid Transit System) line, which helps people travel easily around Chennai.
