Venado is a special area called a district in Costa Rica. It is part of the San Carlos area, which is in the Alajuela province. Venado is known for its amazing natural caves and beautiful green areas.

Venado became its own district on April 14, 1966. This happened because of a special government decision called "Decreto Ejecutivo 18." Before this, Venado was part of the Grecia area.

Venado covers an area of about 169.28 square kilometers. This makes it the seventh largest district in its canton. It sits at an elevation of about 252 meters above sea level.

Where is Venado Located?
Venado shares its borders with several other places. To the northeast, it borders the Monterrey district. To the southeast, it borders La Fortuna. On its west and southwest sides, it borders Tilarán. Finally, to the northwest, it borders the Guatuso canton.
