Venia, Virginia facts for kids
Venia is a small place in Buchanan County, Virginia, located in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community," which means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
The post office in Venia first opened its doors in 1923. This was a big step for the community, making it easier for residents to connect with the outside world. The post office was established by Venia Hessby and named after her. Once Venia became elderly, her daughters, Hazel Hess Combs and Dollie Hess Austin, took charge of running the post office, which remained in operation until 1985.
