Becoming a Judge
Serving in State Courts

In 2016, Judge Colvin gave a speech to students in a program called "Consider the Consequences." This program was for students who might be at risk of making bad choices. Her speech was recorded without her knowing and became very popular online. Many people watched it, and teachers even played it for their students. In June 2019, she was also asked to join a special state judicial group.
Joining the Georgia Court of Appeals
On March 27, 2020, Governor Brian Kemp appointed Judge Colvin to the Georgia Court of Appeals. She officially started her new role on April 10, 2020. She made history as the first African-American woman appointed to this court by a Republican governor in Georgia.
Moving to the Georgia Supreme Court
