Inside the Verdaguer House Museum

The Verdaguer House Museum (Catalan: Casa Museu Verdaguer) is a special museum about books and writers. It is located in Folgueroles, a town in the Osona region of Spain. This town is famous because it's where the well-known poet Jacint Verdaguer was born. The museum first opened its doors in 1967 and is part of a group of museums called the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network.

The Museum Building

The Verdaguer House Museum is set inside an old house that was built in the 1600s. This house was once home to Josep Verdaguer and Josepa Santaló, who were Jacint Verdaguer's parents. They lived there from 1841 to 1847. Jacint Verdaguer himself lived in this house until he was two years old.

What You Can See Inside

The museum has three floors, each showing something different:

  • The first floor has a permanent exhibition. This part of the museum tells the story of Jacint Verdaguer's life, from when he was a child to his later years.
  • The second floor takes you back in time! It shows what a typical kitchen and bedroom looked like in the 1800s, which was the time when young Jacint lived.
  • The third floor has a space for temporary exhibitions, which means the displays here change from time to time. There's also a special area dedicated to the artist Perejaume. Plus, you can watch a video about Jacint Verdaguer's life and all the amazing things he wrote.
