Vermilion is a small village located in Edgar County, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of both Stratton and Elbridge Townships. In 2020, about 203 people lived there.

History of Vermilion Village
Vermilion started as a settlement around the mid-1850s. It got its name from the person who was its first postmaster. The village's name was first spelled "Vermillion" with two "L"s. However, in 1949, the spelling was changed to "Vermilion" with just one "L". The village officially became an incorporated town in 1873.
Where is Vermilion Located?
Vermilion is found about three miles west of the Indiana state border. It is also just south of U.S. Route 150, a major road. A CSX railroad line runs through the middle of the town. This railway connects Paris and Terre Haute, Indiana.
