The community of Vetal was named after a person called Vetal Valandry. He was one of the first people, known as a pioneer settler, to live in this area a long time ago.
A post office was opened in Vetal in 1912. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1967.
