Her Journey in Government
Victoire Tomegah Dogbé has had a long and impactful career helping her country. Before becoming Prime Minister, she worked for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Benin.
Joining the Government
In 2008, the President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbé, and the Prime Minister, Gilbert Houngbo, asked her to join the government. She became a Minister in charge of grassroots development. This role focused on helping local communities and people at the basic level.
Rising Through Ministries
After President Gnassingbé was re-elected in 2010, Victoire Tomegah Dogbé was appointed as the Minister of Grassroots Development, Handicrafts, Youth, and Youth Employment. She kept this important job in different governments that followed. She continued her work in this ministry from 2012 to 2015 under Prime Minister Kwesi Ahoomey-Zunu. When Komi Sélom Klassou became Prime Minister in 2015, she still held her ministerial position.
Becoming Prime Minister
On September 28, 2020, President Faure Gnassingbé chose Victoire Tomegah Dogbé to be the new Prime Minister of Togo. She took over from Komi Sélom Klassou. This was a very important moment because she became the first woman to ever hold this high office in Togo's history. She served as Prime Minister until May 3, 2025. After her term, the role of Prime Minister was ended in Togo.
